Holiday traveling with little ones

The holidays are stressful enough without adding a road trip. Alas, sometimes it is unavoidable.
Traveling with children just takes the right attitude and a little thinking ahead. Keep an upbeat attitude and “go with the flow” to ensure a happy trip for all.
Here are some quick suggestions if you find yourself in a car with kids:
Sit an older sibling next to the little one. Assign the older child the job of keeping the youngest entertained…to read stories, play peek-a-boo or just make silly faces.
Even though time is of the essence, take a break when the vibe calls for it. A few moments to stretch legs will reward you with a peaceful carload for miles to come.
Of course, snacks and drinks are a must!
Remember pillows, blankets, a special stuffed animal and changes of clothes.
Play Christmas music in the car…and have a sing-a-long.
Discuss what Christmas means. Read the Christmas story.
Describe the relatives you’ll soon see. Tell stories about when they were kids.
The most important item to pack is patience. No matter what the trip has in store, a little patience is sure to save the day.
