Celebrating Cinco de Mayo simply
No need to go to a crowded bar to recognize Mexico’s heritage. Have a family fun fiesta in the ease and comfort of your own home. It’s quick to throw together this Mexican-themed party.
Drape red, green and white crepe paper in the party room, stuff and hang a piñata for the kids to bust open and listen to a Latin music CD (found in the “Ethnic” and “Popular” sections of the library’s CD collection).
Of course, all festivals feature food. Check out this video to create the perfect Cinco de Mayo staple, quesadillas. (Jalapeños should be handled with a spoon or gloved hands)
Declare it a taco night and prepare this super-simple dip to go alongside. The Sunrise, a fruity non-alcoholic drink, completes the meal.
If nothing else, microwave some frozen chimi’s from the freezer case at the store.
Happy Fiesta!
