To make a cookie “lollipops,” either for a bouquet or to hand out individually, just insert a stick into each cookie before baking. (A pack of 25 sticks is under $2—found in baking/craft department).
You don’t have to use your grandmother’s royal icing recipe, which surely includes raw eggs. Today’s royal icing makes use of meringue powder, also found in baking/craft departments. Other icing options are a tub of ready-made frosting or a powdered sugar and water glaze.
