Banana fans have waited all year for this day, Banana Lovers Day!

How should a person celebrate Banana Lovers Day?

Oh, there are many ways: create a banana split masterpiece; dip a banana in melted chocolate and roll it in sprinkles; slice some bananas on top of a bowl of cereal; make some gelatin and stir in some banana chunks before it firms up; gaze at a bunch of draping bananas hanging out of a fruit bowl; feed a monkey; or make some banana bread:

Banana Bread

2 ½ cups flour
½ cup sugar
½ cup brown sugar
3 ½ teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/3 cup milk
1 egg
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
2 or 3 mashed bananas

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease bottom only of one loaf pan (9 x 5 x 3) or two smaller loaf pans.
Mix all ingredients. Beat for 30 seconds.
Bake about one hour (take a peek after about 40 minutes).
Bread is done when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
