Foundry Art Centre exhibitions, reception and open studios

St. Charles
MFA Art Exhibition “Beyond the Resume.” The Foundry Art Centre is pleased to offer an exhibition of works by emerging artists working in a variety of media. The exhibition will showcase the works of artists who have received their Master of Fine Arts or Masters of Arts from an area university within the last three years. The selection process is by letter of recommendation by the appropriate school of art faculty and/or academic professionals. The exhibition is not media-specific, allowing both cross-disciplinary and installation works.
The MFA Exhibition allows artists to present their work to the larger world as a culmination of their challenging program of study and creation. In addition, the MFA Exhibition introduces to the community, provocative and thought-provoking new talent. The Foundry’s goal is to offer an inviting forum where beginning and established collectors can discover emerging and mid-career talent.
In addition, the Ameristar Meeting Room will feature the multi-media artwork of Jon Baker, St. Louis, MO.
Both exhibitions run from November 28, 2008 – January 9, 2009.
On December 5 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. the Foundry artists, with studios on the mezzanine level, will host an opening reception and open studios. All Foundry artists will be in their studios to meet and greet the public and discuss their processes.
The Foundry Art Centre is a fine arts gallery overlooking the Missouri River at 520 North Main Center, in the Frenchtown district of Historic St. Charles. The Foundry features a Smithsonian-caliber gallery hosting national juried exhibitions plus 20 working artist studios where visitors can watch the creative process and buy art directly from the artists. The not-for-profit art centre also provides community meeting rooms, event space and a children’s art gallery.
Hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 4 p.m.
