Greater St. Louis Renaissance Faire seeks students
January 29, 2008
St. Charles County
Renaissance St. Louis, Inc. and the Arts Council of St. Charles County would like to hear from middle school and high school drama and theater groups as well as music and choir groups to perform at the 2008 Greater St. Louis Renaissance Faire.
Participating students would sing period music, perform Shakespearean plays or other works of the period. This is an opportunity to contribute to an historical educational experience.
The mission of the faire is to stimulate interest in history by creating events and programs illustrating times past. During the four-week run, over thirty acts perform music, comedy and adventure on nine stages. Performers create a living history of a 16th century French village called Petit Lyon. Common sights are sword fighting, jousting knights and strolling minstrels.
This is the tenth year of the faire, which is held at Rotary Park in Wentzville. The Greater St. Louis Renaissance Faire will be held on Saturdays and Sundays plus Memorial Day on May 17, 18, 24, 25, 26, 31 and June 1, 7 and 8 from 10 am. to 6 p.m.
Interested performers should contact 636-928-4141 or 636-928-1280 or visit these sites: www.renstl.org and www.stcharlesart.org.
