Taking the field for competition

On Saturday, Oct. 30, marching bands from Wentzville Holt, Francis Howell Central, Fort Zumwalt West and Orchard Farm High Schools attended the Champion of Champions Marching Band Contest at the University of Missouri, Columbia.

Wentzville Holt High School’s band, Wentzville Indian Band, under the direction of Jim Cunningham, performed their show, Fiesta! Wentzville advanced to finals and with a score of 72.8 received 3rd place out of the 22 bands which performed. Their auxiliary received 4th place in the preliminary caption awards.

Francis Howell Central High School’s band, Spartan Regiment, under the direction of Nathan Griffin, performed their show, Rise. Spartan Regiment also advanced to finals and with a score of 70.6, received 5th place.

Fort Zumwalt West High School’s band, Silver Jaguar Brigade, under the direction of Dale Sharkey, performed their show, RECESS! The Silver Jaguar Brigade received 8th place in the 5A Division.

Orchard Farm High School’s band, Eagles, under the direction of Wes Scott, performed their show, Back to the 80’s. The Eagles received 6th place in the 3A Division.

With a score of 82.3, Blue Springs South High School from Blue Springs, Missouri, took 1st place in the finals competition.
