The Wentzville School District has received doses of the H1N1 vaccination from the St. Charles County Department of Health, in both the FluMist and the injectable form.

The District will follow the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines that recommend vaccinating younger children first. A clinic will be held this Saturday, Nov. 14 at Holt High School. Residents between the ages of 3 and 9 who live within the District boundaries can receive the vaccine on a first come, first serve basis from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Community residents between the ages of 10 and 21 years of age can receive the vaccination also on a first come, first serve basis from 9 am. until noon. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The CDC recommends that children under nine years of age get a second vaccination separated by at least 28 days. The District will be offering additional clinics in the coming weeks as it receives more of the H1N1 vaccine.

The State of Missouri has set up an H1N1 hotline to answer questions regarding flu symptoms, when to receive medical care, and questions about the vaccination. The number 1-877-FLU-4141 (1-877-358-4141) is answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
