Caution: subscription solicitors visit Lake Saint Louis

Thursday evening, Lake Saint Louis Police received numerous calls from residents in the Ballantrae and Key Harbour areas regarding door-to-door salespeople selling magazine subscriptions.

Residents complained that the salespeople do not act in a professional manner and at times become pushy or aggressive.

Police talked to some of the solicitors in the High Point area, after which the group was planning to leave the area.

The solicitors, often young people, sometimes say they are trying to raise money for a trip, college or that they belong to a homeschooling group. They have been known to travel together in a van with out-of-state license plates.

Police should be notified about any aggressive door-to-door salespeople, especially if they do not wear a peddler’s license in areas, such as Lake Saint Louis, which require one.

Subdivisions
Magazine salespeople were out in force in the Lake St. Louis area this week. Subdivisions like this one in WingHaven are prime areas for these groups.
