2008 Polar Bear Plunge at Lake St. Louise sets record

The 5th Annual Polar Bear Plunge, held in Lake Saint Louis last Saturday, set a record with 309 people plunging and raised (so far, still counting) $96,000 for Special Olympics.

The winners have been announced as follows:

Golden Plungers
1st Place (Individual Category) – Blizzard Girl (Warren Co.)
2nd Place (Individual Category) – Raining Cats & Dogs (Warren Co.)
3rd Place (Individual Category) – Gorilla Girl (Chief Force, Lake Saint Louis Police)

1st Place (Law Enforcement Agency) – O’Fallon Police Dept. Smurfs

1st Place (Group Category) – Cupid with Conversation Hearts (Team 4 Terry)

1st Place (Individual) – Bill Chancellor (Warren Co.) $10,072
2nd Place (Individual) – Craig Bussen $6,295
3rd Place (Individual) – Tony Mueller $1,510

1st Place (Law Enforcement Agency) – O’Fallon Police Dept. $4,327
The O’Fallon Police Dept. received a $1,500 product of need certificate from Code 3 as well as a hand-held radar unit from Kustom Signals.

1st Place (Group) – Warren Co. $12,433

1st Place (School) – Fort Zumwalt West Middle School
