August saturation patrols effective

The O’Fallon Police Department conducted DWI saturation patrols on the days of Aug. 10, 17, 20 through 22, 24 and 31. The saturation patrols were conducted in high DWI violation areas, as well as on state and city roadways. These areas included: Mexico Road, Route K, Route M, Interstate 70, Bryan Road, Outer Roads and 364 Outer Road. This effort was part of an ongoing effort to reduce impaired driving on O’Fallon roadways and included multiple officers working five hour overtime shifts.
During the DWI saturation patrols, a total of 4 suspects were arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. A total of 42 summonses were issued during the 33 overtime hours worked, of which 29 were moving violations. In addition, one person was arrested for an outstanding warrant and one person was charged with driving on a suspended license.
Funding for this effort was provided through grants from the Missouri Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Division in cooperation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Missouri Safety Center.
