On 07/10/08, Chief Jerry Schulte presented a memory box to the wife and family of a prior Reserve Police Officer with the O’Fallon Police Department. The Reserve Officer, Carl Young, had recently passed away due to an illness.  At the time of his death he was the Fleet Manager for the City of O’Fallon.

The O’Fallon Police Department would like to honor Carl Young for his service with the department as a Reserve Officer.  He was an excellent Reserve Officer.  He was always available at a moments notice.  He would come in with a smile on his face, a joke to be told and a story about his beloved Corvettes.

Carl had an upbeat attitude and knowledge of police work and of Officer Safety. Carl was a good hearted person who never had anything bad to say about anyone.  He was a great friend of the Police Department.

In addition to his work as a Reserve Police Officer Carl Young was elected to the Board of Alderman (BOA) in Ward 1, serving two terms (95-97, 97-99); he was also president of the BOA in his last term. He served as the BOA liaison to the Planning and Zoning Commission from 1995 to 1998. He was also an active volunteer as a court bailiff and with event support. Between 2001and 2005 he volunteered over 423 hours.

Chief Jerry Schulte presented the memory box to Carl’s family as a small token of our appreciation for his service to the O’Fallon Police Department. He will be greatly missed.
