January 7, 2008
O’Fallon, MO
The Fort Zumwalt North Panther Pride Marching Band took first place for the field show competition at the 2007 Holiday Bowl in San Diego, CA. The Panthers also won the Sweepstakes Award, which is the best combined score between the parade and field show competitions. The band received a trophy for winning the Sweepstakes Award and a large plaque for taking first place in the field competition. The Panthers also received Caption Awards for percussion, music and general effect.
The parade was held on Dec. 27, the field show on Dec. 28 and the band was presented with their awards in a ceremony at SeaWorld in San Diego, CA on Dec. 29. Not surprisingly, the band members were reportedly very excited with the outcome.
Approximately 15 bands from around the country including California, Idaho, Pennsylvania, Missouri, Wyoming and Hawaii competed at the event. Band Director, Rob Babel told sccworlds.com, “St. Charles County is a very competitive arena for marching bands.” He said that when the band competes outside the state, they tend to “stack up well” because of experiences at home.
