Police issue 226 citations during detail

The O’Fallon Police Department conducted a Speed Enforcement Detail between August 19 and August 26. During this detail, 10 officers worked 86 overtime hours, consisting of one block of four hour shifts.

The focus of this detail was the problem of excessive speeding in residential areas along with the speeding on major roadways in O’Fallon. The residential areas that were focused on were Turtle Creek, Avondale, St. Dominic Estates/Walden Pond, Countryshire, Sunset Acres, Patriots Landing and Homefield.

During the detail a total of 226 citations were issued and of them 140 were for speeding violations. A total of 199 traffic stops were conducted during the enforcement detail.

Funding for this effort was provided through a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Division in cooperation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Missouri Safety Center.
