The City of O’Fallon is hosting an upcoming trip to Amish country. The trip is scheduled for March 15 from 7:00 a.m. until 7:30 p.m.

The trip includes a visit to the Amish Interpretive Center in Arcola, IL. Then a step-on guide will accompany the group during a tour of the city.

Also included in the trip is an Amish home-cooked meal, a tour of an Amish home and shopping in Arthur, IL, the heart of Amish country.

The price of the trip is $85 for residents and $90 for non-residents. This includes transportation, the guide, lunch, all admissions, taxes and gratuities.

Amish Broccoli Soup

3 bunches of broccoli, cooked
1 quart of chicken broth
2 quarts of milk
3 ½ tablespoons flour
¼ pound of cheese

Mash the broccoli, mix in all ingredients in a saucepan and simmer for 10 minutes. Add a little salt, if desired.
