16-year-old seriously injured in car accident

On Friday, at about 11:00 p.m., a 16-year-old male from O’Fallon was driving a 1998 Toyota Camry on Route P, about one mile west of St. Paul Road.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the vehicle traveled off the right side of the road, went airborne and then overturned.
The driver was seriously injured and taken to St. John’s Mercy Medical Center by Arch Helicopter. He was not wearing a seat belt.
Initial reports were: the driver was found face down and unconscious under the car; Arch Helicopter was dispatched at 11:25 p.m. and landed at 11:52 p.m. At about 12:15, Arch Helicopter was on the way to the hospital with the victim who had been trapped under the car from his chest down.
The vehicle was totaled.
