Accident sends teen to hospital

On Thursday, June 11, at about 10:35 a.m., a 16-year-old male from Defiance was traveling eastbound on Route D, 3.2 miles west of Highway 94, in a 2000 Dodge Avenger.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the teen ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected, ran off the left side of the road, struck a ditch embankment and then overturned twice. He was wearing a seat belt during the accident.
The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to St. Joseph Hospital West by St. Charles County Ambulance.
The vehicle was totaled in the accident.
