Double fatal accident on Highway 79

A motor vehicle accident killed two Wednesday night around 9:00. Floyd L. Bowman, 78, of O’Fallon, was traveling southbound on Highway 79, south of Dyer Road in a 1999 Mercury Sable when he passed Earl D. Fetters, 70, of St. Charles, who was driving a 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe, heading in the same direction.
Bruce L. Cannon, 53, of Winfield was traveling northbound in a 2003 Ford Mustang. Bowman struck the left side of the Mustang and Cannon lost control of the vehicle which caused him to strike, head-on, the Chevrolet Tahoe, being driven by Fetters.
Fetters and Cannon were both pronounced dead at the scene by fire department personnel at 9:20 p.m.
Bernice M. Fetters, 65, of St. Charles, was an occupant in the vehicle with Earl Fetters. She suffered serious injuries and was air-lifted to St. John’s Medical Center in Creve Coeur by Air Evac.
Michael A. Fetters, 28, of St. Charles, was also an occupant in the vehicle with Earl Fetters. He suffered moderate injuries and was taken to St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles by St. Charles County Ambulance.
No injuries were reported for Bowman.
