Highway 94 accident claims life of St. Charles woman

On Sunday, May 17, at about 5:50 p.m., Ashley P. Matthews, 23, of St. Peters, was traveling eastbound on Highway 94, just east of Matson Hill, in a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Matthews traveled off the south side of the road, overcorrected and then crossed the centerline and struck an oncoming westbound 2006 Cadillac CTS, being driven by David R. Mann, 54, of Augusta.
An occupant in the Volkswagen, Ashley W. Walker, 24, of St. Charles, obtained fatal injuries and was pronounced at the scene by St. Charles County Ambulance personnel.
Matthews suffered serious injuries and was taken to St. John’s Medical Center in Creve Coeur by Arch Air Medical Service.
Mann also suffered serious injuries and was taken to St. John’s Medical Center in Creve Coeur by St. Charles County Ambulance.
