Motorcycle accident claims life of Washington man

At about midnight Sunday morning, Paul A. Gerner, 33, of Washington, MO, was traveling southbound on Route DD, near Highway 94 on a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle.
It appears that as Gerner tried to avoid a deer in the roadway, the motorcycle dropped to its side and Gerner struck his head on the pavement. The motorcycle traveled off the right side of the road and Gerner was ejected.
Though the motorcycle suffered minor damage, Gerner was pronounced dead on the scene. His next of kin have been notified.
