It was reported that, at approximately 9:15 p.m. Jan. 11, 26-year-old Marshall Robert Fink was shot and killed by his stepfather inside a home on West Meath Ring in Weldon Spring. Fink shared the home with his stepfather, John E. Gentles DDS, who was released from custody the following day.

St. Charles County W.O.R.L.D.S. asked Lt. Craig McGuire, of the St. Charles County Sheriff’s department, why Dr. Gentles was released so soon. Lt. McGuire stated that it is not unusual for a subject to be released during the course of an investigation. He also said that Dr. Gentles is not believed to be a threat or a flight risk.

The sheriff’s department will finish their investigation and then turn the matter over to prosecuting attorneys.

It has been reported that Fink suffered from bipolar disorder and that his disease was at the root of this tragedy.
