An accident involving two passenger cars occurred this afternoon at about 12:45 on Highway DD, about a quarter mile from Highway 40.

A witness told sccworlds.com that a woman in a white Saturn was traveling west on Highway DD and ran off the road slightly, but overcorrected and was struck by an oncoming red Honda.

The two cars landed off the road on the east lane side of Highway DD, the white car resting atop the red one. There were no passengers in either car.

The victims were trapped in their cars and emergency crews had to work to extract them. The accident caused the roadway to be closed for almost an hour.

An officer told sccworlds.com that their injuries were minor considering the scope of the accident. Names of the injured have not been released.
