Fatality; two injured in accident on Highway P

At 11:55 p.m. last night, police were called to the scene of a fatal accident on Highway P East of Josephville Road.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2001 Ford pickup truck, which was traveling eastbound, struck a mailbox, overcorrected, rotated on the roadway and struck a culvert. The vehicle became airborne and struck a tree before coming to rest on its roof.
A 22-year-old male passenger, Shawn M. Ressor, from O’Fallon was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 20-year-old female passenger, Margaret L. Richardson, from Wentzville was seriously injured and transported by Arch Air Medical Service to St. John’s Hospital in Creve Coeur.
The driver, Jeremy Hembree, a 20-year-old male from O’Fallon was seriously injured and taken to St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles.
Hembree was charged with DWI, manslaughter and 2nd degree assault.
