High winds and slick roads hinder motorists

Traffic accidents dotted commuters’ rush hour routes this evening. Mishaps were reported on Highways 94 and 40 near Weldon Spring, the Highway 70 and Bryan Road exit ramp in O’Fallon, and the Highway 40 and Dauphine cross-over in Lake Saint Louis.
In a press release earlier today, Lake Saint Louis Police Chief, Michael Force, warned drivers of the potentially dangerous Highway 40 and Dauphine location mentioned above. “This has always been a somewhat hazardous intersection,” warned Chief Force.
He also said, “We must all work together to ensure that a tragedy doesn’t occur at this location.”
An unseasonably warm January morning turned into quite a blustery afternoon. What seemed like a surprise winter flurry blindsided drivers with slick roadways and high winds, some gusting near 60 mph.
More snow and below or near freezing temperatures are in the forecast for Thursday and Friday of this week.
