Three injured in accident on Highway P

A late-night car accident on Tuesday injured three area residents.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol: At 11:54 p.m., Kayla M. Smith, 18, of O’Fallon, was driving a 1999 Saturn SL2 eastbound on Highway P about a mile west of Hoff Road.

Smith failed to negotiate a curve in the road when the vehicle slid across the center line and into the path of a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire, driven by Ammie N. Jacobs, 25, of Foristell, as Jacobs was traveling westbound on Highway P.

The Sunfire then struck the left side of the Saturn driven by Smith.

Smith suffered moderate injuries and was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles by St. Charles County Ambulance.

An occupant riding with Smith, Jason D. Gjere, 18, of O’Fallon, sustained minor injuries and was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles by St. Charles County Ambulance.

An occupant riding with Jacobs, John C. Orf, 25, of Wentzville, suffered moderate injuries and was also taken to St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles by St. Charles County Ambulance.

Jacobs and Orf were wearing seat belts. Smith and Gjere were not.
