Local flooding shows Ike deserves respect

Ike’s rain is responsible for the steady steam of flash flooding all around the area this morning.
Emergency crews assembled at Bass Pro Shop in St. Charles, awaiting dispatch instructions. Rescues have been deployed consistently.
Residents in an apartment building in the 3500 block of Elm Street in St. Charles required a Zodiac swift water rescue team.
On Highway 94 and Fox Hill, four people were trapped in a car and evacuated some time later.
On Motherhead Road in Cottleville, a woman was stuck in a car. The water level reached the car door.
Motor vehicle accidents occurred on Kisker Road and Highway 94 in St. Charles as well as Highway 61 near Peine Road in Wentzville.
An area on Highway N, near Cottleville, has been impassable as have many other low parts of roadways.
According to the Ameren website, some homes in St. Charles were without power.

Weather forecasts indicate that the St. Charles area will be clear of storms by tomorrow and the rest of the week should be sunny.
