Accident claims life of St. Peters man

On Saturday, January 30, at about 7:50 a.m., a 17-year-old male from St. Peters, was driving a 2002 Ford Expedition westbound on Interstate 70, west of Lake Saint Louis Boulevard.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the driver attempted to change into a lane which was occupied by another vehicle. To avoid striking the vehicle in the other lane, the driver of the Expedition overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle. The Expedition overturned several times and struck the concrete median wall.

An occupant in the Expedition, Darrell P. Lienemann, 50, of St. Peters, was fatally injured.

Another occupant, Carole E. Lienemann, 75, of St. Charles, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to St. John’s Mercy in Creve Coeur by Arch Helicopter.

The driver as well as occupant, Susan M. Lienemann, 50, of St. Peters, suffered moderate injuries and were both taken to St. Joseph East Hospital by St. Charles County Ambulance.

All were wearing seatbelts during the accident.
