Students and staff at Frontier Middle School in the Wentzville School District raised over $3,000 last month for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the most by any school in the St. Louis area.

During a victory rally on Friday, the school was visited by Josh Brown of the St. Louis Rams and some of the Rams Cheerleaders.

“I had a friend in high school that passed away because of CF, and it really affected me and a lot of the people who were really close to me,” said the Rams kicker. “We may not be able to cure the disease, but the money we raise can go a long way toward reducing the impact on kids.”

Almost 1,000 students packed the gym to hear Brown and some of their own classmates who suffer from CF.

“It’s great to see how many people really care,” said 7th grader Hunter Park. “If we can raise awareness then more people might be interested in helping us find a cure.”

Macy Reed is another 7th grader who suffers from CF.

“It’s hard sometimes and you just have to deal with it, but these are amazing people, and I’m really grateful to all of my friends!”

Brown also raises money for the cause through the Josh Brown Giving Project. Its mission is to “help improve the quality of life for our youth, increase physical activity and to assure the development for the means to find a cure and control cystic fibrosis.”

He also challenged the Frontier students to raise even more money next year, and promised another visit (along with some of his teammates) if they succeeded.
