Holt High School Theater is producing the Broadway musical, THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE on Nov. 20, 21 and 22 at 7:00 p.m.
MILLIE is based on the original 1967 Universal Pictures Film by the same name. Music and lyrics are by Jeanine Tesori and Dick Scanlan. The show was the leading Tony Award winner for the 2002 season.
THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE tells the story of Millie Dillmount (Sam Disney), a young dreamer who lands in NYC in the 1920s. She wants nothing more than to marry her boss Trevor Graydon (Luke Beussink) and live the modern life of flappers and fun.
Little does she know, though, that Mrs. Meers (Alli Thurwachter), her seemingly kind landlady, is running a boarding house that is a front for a kidnapping ring.
Millie’s life is even more interesting by the dashing Jimmy Smith (Connor Patterson) and her friend Dorothy (Taylor Gleason) who complicate her plans for marriage success.
Her story is told through a fast-paced series of song and dance numbers that are surrounded by outlandish comic moments.
Also featured in THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE are Austin Adams, Kristen Berghoff, Peter Billing, Blake Brinkley, Katie Brown, Jimmy Cambron, Jeff Campbell, Amanda Clevenger, Miranda Dee, Bethany Ellerbrook, Jessica Ellis, Carlysle Garland, Parker Gleason, Dan Hayward, Alexis Hitt, Erica Loesche, Abby Maestas, Drew Maestas, Kathleen Mertz, Wendi Milhous, Margaret Osler, Cayla Patterson, Derek Read, Andrew Sperry, Brittanie Staton, Katie Steckel, Shayne Swanner, Josh Todisman, and Nick Zumwalt.
The production is stage-managed by the team of Samantha Simms, Ryan Biggs and Nico Stringfellow.
