Park Explorer Kids Club introduces kids to natural world

The St. Charles County Parks Department offers two week-long day camps that encourage your child to learn about the outdoors and environment. The Park Explorer Kids Clubis open to children ages 6-12. Held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., on June 15 – 19 and July 13 – 17, sessions of the popular program will operate from Shelter #1 in Quail Ridge Park.
For a $40 registration fee, Park Explorer Kids Clubparticipants will discover the outdoors by exploring the prairies, trails and waterways surrounding Quail Ridge Park. Program activities will include plant/animal identification, wildflower discovery, fishing, nature-themed crafts, and other outdoor activities. In addition, a picnic lunch is provided during the closing ceremony on Friday.
Advanced registration is requested, as each session of the Park Explorer Kids Clubis limited to 30 participants. For questions or registration, please call the St. Charles County Parks Department at 636-949-7535.
Quail Ridge Park is located near the intersection of Interstate 70 and Highway 40/61 in Wentzville. From I-70, turn South on Highway 40 to the first stoplight (Callahan Road) and turn right. Make an immediate right from Callahan Road onto Quail Ridge Parkway and follow into the park. Shelter #1 is located at the end of Blue Stem Drive within the park.
The St. Charles County Parks Department will offer nearly 150 programs for County residents and visitors this year at each of the eight parks open to the public. Including guided hikes and bike rides, events for children, educational lectures and other natural recreational opportunities, the majority of these events are free and open to everyone.
