At about 11:45 a.m. Friday, the Wentzville Police Department received a radio call from the Warren County Sheriff’s office that a silver Lexus was traveling erratically at a high rate of speed, around 70 mph, eastbound on Interstate 70.

It was reported that the car hit the median wall and blew a tire. Wentzville police were able to follow the car, but initial attempts to pull it over were unsuccessful.

By the time the car pulled off the road, near the T.R. Hughes exit on Highway 70, it had multiple flat tires, reports say. A total of at least nine police cars from Wentzville and O’Fallon were on the scene.

Traffic was backed up from west of Highway K to the T.R. Hughes exit on eastbound Interstate 70.

Captain Kevin Pyatt of the Wentzville Police Department told sccworlds.com that it was immediately apparent they were dealing with a medical issue, a diabetic emergency.
An ambulance arrived shortly. The male driver was able to walk inside the ambulance.

“We’re just glad nobody was hurt,” said Captain Pyatt.
