Quail Ridge Lodge is the place to be for upcoming fun, educational events. St. Charles County Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor a public viewing of the lunar eclipse as well as some nature seminars.

Lunar Eclipse Viewing on Feb. 20

The free lunar eclipse viewing will be held on Feb. 20 at 7:30 p.m.

The moon will enter partial eclipse at 7:43 p.m. and reach total eclipse around 9 p.m. The total phase will continue until around 10 p.m., and the eclipse will conclude at approximately 11 p.m.

An eclipse is when the Earth’s orbit moves the planet in a line between the sun and the moon, blocking sunlight from reaching the moon. During the total eclipse, the appearance of the moon’s reflection will change to an orange, red or brown color.

Though the eclipse is visible to the naked eye, guests are invited to bring binoculars or borrow some from the Parks Department.

Advanced registration is encouraged. Groups of more than 10 members are asked to call 636-949-7535 to assist with staffing preparations. This is a family-friendly event.
