The Wentzville School Board voted to increase the prices of school breakfasts and lunches by 10 cents next year.

Citing that food prices are projected to increase up to 8%, Child Nutritional Director, Molly Youngberg, presented the board with her recommendations for the 2008-2009 school year.

Youngberg pointed out that nutritional guidelines are changing in favor of healthy offerings. She stated that typically the more nutritional items are more expensive.

Another factor impacting the board’s decision was the cost of benefits to food service employees. Insurance costs are expected to increase by $50,000 more than the current year’s budget.

The school board did not increase meal prices last year.
