Accidents have kept emergency crews quite busy this afternoon. The snow shouldn’t have caught many off guard since the forecast was widely announced; but it seems the slick roadways were a surprise.

One accident in St. Charles County involved a school bus carrying special needs children. Also this afternoon, eastbound and westbound lanes of Highway 40 near Highways K and 94 were closed due to a couple of accidents involving as many as eight vehicles. Slight injuries were reported.

An accident in Wentzville, on the ramp from Highway A to 70 westbound, involved two vehicles. There was also an accident near the intersection of Highways N and Z; a slide off on Highway 40 near Callahan Road. Another car was reported off the roadway of the overpass onto Wentzville Parkway.

There was a three-car accident on Old Highway 94 South. Other accidents occurred in Cottleville near the college; on Lake Saint Louis Boulevard near Highway 70; and under the Zumbehl overpass in St. Charles.

The snow that came Thursday afternoon brought many traffic issues to the St. Charles County area. This photo shows an accident on I-70 from a snow storm in December 2007.
